Day of St. Michael the Archangel - Arhistrateg (captain) of the whole heavenly host of angels and archangels, is the second largest after Demetrius autumn holiday of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church

According to the Orthodox Church of St. Michael the Archangel is one of the seven angels parvenstvashti, always standing before the throne of God. In ecclesiastical iconography is depicted with a spear in hand, with their feet trample the devil. In the Bulgarian folk tradition Michaelmas is associated with the worship of the dead and the soul of man. Of the Holy Michael has fallen the task of the human soul separates from the body.
